PROPOSED ITINERARY
Day 1 - Thursday, August 2
Depart from DULLES or BWI International
Airport in Washington, DC (late night flight)
Day 2 - Friday, August 3
AKWAABA (Welcome)
Arrive in Accra, Ghana and Transfer to a
Hotel with a pool, internet access, etc
Welcome and orientation to
Ghana. Begin the ACCRA CITY TOUR Visit the administrative and
economic capital of Ghana. Visit WEB Dubois Center for Pan African
Culture and the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park. See Black Star Square.
Visit clothing and dressmakers; place your order to be delivered
before our final departure. Relax, unwind, exchange money, and go
out for dinner.
Day 3 - Saturday, August 4
AKWAMU TRADITIONAL VILLAGE IN AKOSOMBO
Visit an authentic
traditional African town and village. Meet with the locals and sit
with Royalty. Visit a genuine bead village and factory to purchase
beads from a craftsperson. Take part in a traditional naming
ceremony and be connected with a village family. Have dinner and
overnight Akosombo.
Day 4 - Sunday, August 5
CRUISE AKOSOMBO LAKE
Hotel will be on the
beautiful Volta Lake, the largest man made lake in the world. Cruise
on the Dodi Princess, wine and dine whilst dancing to sweet sounds
of Highlife music played by a live band on board. Have dinner and
stay overnight in Akosombo.
Day 5 - Monday, August 6
KUMASI CITY TOUR
Tour the Ashanti Kingdom.
Travel to a Kumasi Hotel, visit The Famous and ancient Mahyia
Palace, Center for Ashanti National Culture. Have dinner and
overnight in Kumasi.
Day 6 - Tuesday August 7
CRAFT VILLAGES TOURS
Visit the famous Ashanti
Craft Villages: AHWAII, the wood carvers village; NTONSO, the home
of Adinkra and BONWIRE, the Kente weaving village. Have dinner and
stay overnight in Kumasi.
Day 7 - Wednesday, August 8
ELMINA & CAPECOAST CASTLES
The Bus will travel to the
coast to visit famous forts and castles in central Ghana. We will
see the Cape Coast, historical museums and the infamous Elmina
Castle. The group will check-in for a two-night stay at a peaceful
beachside resort. Enjoy beach time, swimming, meals and drinks by
the ocean. Overnight in Cape Coast beach resort.
Day 8 - Thursday, August 9
KAKUM NATIONAL PARK in Cape Coast, Ghana
Visit Kakum National Park,
a tropical rain forest and one of the Seven Wonders of the World.
Walk on a hanging canopy 100 ft. above the forest floor; relax at
the wonderful beachfront hotel and enjoy a traditional drumming and
cultural display by local drummers and dancers. This will be a day
of reflection, rest and relaxation on the stunningly beautiful
beach. Enjoy a traditional African Feast, seaside. Overnight in Cape
Coast beach resort.
Day 9 - Friday, August 10
ACCRA
Return to Accra for our
day of community service. Participants will be offered a unique
opportunity to go out on a full day service project of there
choosing. You can visit a school, a business, a church, an
orphanage, or similar non-profit organization, to see first hand how
they operate in their environment. We will have a group debriefing
to share amazing stories of our small-group experiences.
Day 10 - Saturday, August 11
ACCRA
Complete the City Tour.
Then go to the Artist Alliance Gallery. Tour ends at the lively Arts
and Crafts Center.. Pick clothes up from the seamstress. Party and
feast with local Ghanaians and African Americans at a party held in
our honor, with a live band for dancing.
Day 11 - Sunday, August 12
ACCRA
Attend a church service
where the minister will focus his Sunday sermon on predictions for
2012. Relax for the day. Do some last minute shopping at the Accra
Arts Center. Pack and prepare for our late evening departure.
Farewell dinner. Go to the airport and departure from Accra
International Airport to DULLES International or BWI Airport. Arrive
back in Washington, DC early Monday morning August 13th.

organizer to create your own payment plan (please use the coupon
book when making a payment).
After submitting your first payment you will receive payment stubs
in the mail to submit with your future payments.

- Select your own or one will be assigned as available. If not
available, you must pay the single room rate.
There is a
non-refundable cancellation fee accessed after April 1 ,
2012 by the airlines of $200.
